Environmentally Friendly Asphalt

Environmentally Friendly Asphalt

At TARC, we believe that the preservation of the environment is one of our most important responsibilities. Did you know that asphalt is one of the most recycled construction materials in the world? Each year, millions of tons of recycled asphalt is used in new asphalt mixtures. Whenever possible, we make sure asphalt millings are off-hauled to the same facility where new hot-mix asphalt is prepared and loaded. Minimizing trips lowers fuel consumption, reduces emissions, and lessens the impact on the environment. Hauling the recycled asphalt also helps to lessen the amount of aggregate being mined, and greatly reduces the impact our industry has on the environment. Materials like rubber from used tires, asphalt roofing shingles, blast furnace slag, and glass can be re-used in new recycled asphalt and lessen the amount of material going to landfills.

Greenhouse gas emissions continue to occur daily and is an undeniable problem. We find it important to work towards the reversal of the damage caused. TARC is a proud supporter of the National Forest Foundation (NFF), and contributes to the planting of hundreds of trees each year, with the support of our clients and industry partners.
