The Construction Truck Yard and Mechanic Assistant is responsible for supporting the daily operations of a construction truck yard, including maintenance, organization of construction vehicles and equipment and job notifications. This role involves working closely with the yard manager, mechanics, and other team members to ensure the smooth functioning of the yard.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Yard Maintenance and Organization:
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the truck yard, including proper storage of tools, equipment, and vehicles.
Ensure all materials and equipment are stored safely and in designated areas.
Assist in loading and unloading construction materials and equipment.
Wash and clean vehicles as needed.

2. Vehicle and Equipment Support:
Conduct routine inspections of trucks and construction equipment to identify maintenance needs.
Assist mechanics in performing basic maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
Document any issues or needed repairs and report them to the head mechanic.

3. Operational Support:
Assist in coordinating the movement and dispatch of trucks and equipment for various construction projects.
Monitor inventory levels of tools, parts, and supplies, and notify the yard manager when reordering is necessary.
Operate forklifts, cranes, and other yard equipment as needed, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.

4. Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
Participate in safety training sessions and drills.
Report any safety hazards or incidents to the yard manager immediately.

5. Customer and Team Interaction:
Provide support and assistance to mechanics, drivers, and other yard staff.
Interact professionally with vendors, contractors, and delivery personnel.
Perform other duties as assigned by the yard manager or head mechanic.

Qualifications:

Experience: Previous experience in a construction, mechanical, or yard setting is preferred.

Skills:
Basic understanding of vehicle and equipment maintenance.
Ability to operate forklifts and other yard equipment (certification may be required).
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Physical ability to lift heavy objects and work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Working Conditions: The role involves working outdoors in a truck yard environment with exposure to various weather conditions.

Physical demands include lifting up to 50lbs, bending, and operating heavy machinery.
Safety gear and equipment must be worn as required.
